Reconnected - 2.0 update + changelog


Good evening! I'm sorry this update has been delayed for a while! I've been working a lot on my next title 'Those We Keep Close' for so long and had this on the back burner. But Reconnected 2.0 is finally out! Changelog below!

Engine Changes:

- Developed in Ren'Py 8.4.1 with the latest accessbility menu changes.

Accessibility changes:

- Default font has been changed to Atkinson Hyperlegible.
- Text size and spacing has been increased.
- For anyone using self-voicing, whenever a character says "..." the voice client will describe it as 'silence.'
- Window opacity can now be adjusted in preferences, the maximum value allows for high contrast text.
- Screenshake can now be disabled in preferences (enabled by default.)
- Content warning screen has been updated (I think?)

UI changes:

- Cutie Collective splash screen added on startup.
- Secondary splash screen had new sound and has been touched up.
- Game icon has been changed.
- UI has been overhauled to match Reconnected (2.x) and Those We Keep Close.
- There is now a blinky thing at the end of dialogue!
- Colors for character names have been changed to remain consistent across all three games.
- Updated the main menu screen.
- Starting a new game now has a nice transition to the game itself.
- Simplified the load and save screens
- Small changes to help/controls screen.
- Updated credits and timing between credits (for self-voicing.)
- Updated 'about' page with up-to-date links.

Other changes:

- Minor changes to writing.
- Backgrounds 'bg_aptground.png' and 'bg_stairwell' have been changed to later match the next game in the series: 'Those We Keep Close.'
- Minor changes to animations, timing, etc.
- Music has been converted from WAV (lossless) to OGG (320kbps) to save space. (Sorry audiophiles!)
- Reduced volume of music files.

itch.io updates:

- Thumbnail has been updated.
- Screenshots have been updated.
- Minor change to description.
- small scrapbook added with work in progress for sprites. Unfortunately I was rushing this game back then so I didn't save as much. Sorry for the lack of content! (^~ ^')
- Legacy version will remain available for those wanting to play the original build and to support those on older operating systems that cannot run the latest Ren'Py games.

Unless something is incredibly broken in this release, my game dev time will now be spent entirely on the official sequel to Reconnected: 'Those We Keep Close."

In development for several years, I am currently working on a demo build with a release for Part 1 planned for 2026. (Hopefully!)
